GreenLine and Hindustan Zinc Scale Up EV and LNG Deployment for Lower-Emission Logistics

Mumbai/Udaipur, August 4, 2025: GreenLine Mobility Solutions and Hindustan Zinc Limited are expanding their partnership with a large-scale deployment of 100 electric trucks and 100 LNG-powered trucks across Hindustan Zinc’s logistics operations.

The collaboration brings together two clean mobility solutions across different freight applications. The 100 EVs will support inter-unit concentrate transportation between Hindustan Zinc’s mines and smelters, while the additional 100 LNG trucks will be deployed for long-haul finished goods transportation.

As part of the deployment, GreenLine will invest ₹400 crore in the EV fleet and supporting infrastructure, including three high-capacity battery-swapping stations designed to support round-the-clock operations. The addition of 100 LNG trucks will double Hindustan Zinc’s existing LNG fleet with GreenLine to 200 vehicles.

The deployment reflects a practical approach to decarbonising different parts of an industrial supply chain — using electric mobility for shorter-distance, high-frequency transportation and LNG for long-haul freight.

“Clean transport is a practical opportunity for businesses today. Our expanded partnership with Hindustan Zinc demonstrates how different clean mobility solutions can be integrated across an industrial supply chain based on specific operational requirements. By combining LNG and EV transportation with the infrastructure needed to support them, we are building a model that can be scaled across industrial logistics.”

The expanded deployment is expected to reduce approximately 236 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every month, equivalent to around 12,000 trees. Across the broader initiative, the companies expect to reduce approximately 1.5 lakh tonnes of Scope 3 emissions annually.

Building infrastructure alongside the fleet

A key part of the partnership is the development of infrastructure alongside vehicle deployment.

For the EV fleet, GreenLine will establish three commercial-scale battery-swapping stations to support continuous operations. Battery swapping enables vehicles to return to operations quickly without waiting for conventional charging cycles.

For long-haul transportation, the LNG fleet will be supported by GreenLine’s growing LNG refuelling ecosystem, enabling the trucks to operate across longer freight routes.

This combination of vehicles and supporting infrastructure is central to making cleaner transportation practical for large-scale industrial operations.

Scaling clean freight across applications

GreenLine currently operates more than 650 LNG-powered trucks, alongside electric heavy commercial vehicles, serving customers across sectors including FMCG, e-commerce, metals and mining, cement, oil and gas, and chemicals.

The company's fleet has travelled more than 50 million kilometres, helping avoid over 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

The expanded partnership with Hindustan Zinc adds both short-haul and long-haul applications to GreenLine's growing clean logistics operations and demonstrates how the transition can be approached across different parts of an industrial supply chain.

GreenLine is continuing to scale its integrated clean mobility ecosystem, with plans to deploy more than 10,000 clean trucks supported by LNG refuelling stations, EV charging infrastructure and battery-swapping facilities across India.
