GreenLine deploys its LNG-powered trucks at UltraTech Cement

Flags-off its first LNG truck fleet at Awarpur Cement Works to kick off UltraTech Cement’s green mobility journey

Mumbai, 2^nd January, 2022: UltraTech Cement Limited, India’s leading cement and ready-mix-concrete company, has tied-up with GreenLine (Green Planet Logistics Pvt. Ltd.), a green mobility pioneer in India, to introduce LNG-powered heavy trucks in its road logistics operations.

With the deployment of GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks at Awarpur Cement Works (near Nagpur), UltraTech has taken the first step to decarbonise its heavy trucking logistics as part of its low carbon strategy to reduce GHG emissions and to lower impact of its operations on climate change. This initiative is a testimony of UltraTech’s commitment to increase the LNG fleet substantially across its plants over the coming months.

Heavy trucking emits ~12% of the total emissions of the country. The shift to LNG-powered trucks can reduce toxic emissions of CO2 by upto 30%, CO by upto 70%, NOx by upto 59%, SOx by upto 100%, and Particulate Matter by upto 91%.

In addition to the environmental benefits of these LNG trucks, the social impact was a key factor in our decision to incorporate GreenLine in our fold. The focus on driver comfort through features such as A/C cabin, air suspended driver’s seat, 30% lower noise pollution, and a driver information system that ensures improved driver behavior and safety, played a vital role in our decision.
